Tasks and Functions

The Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices (Ditjen Farmalkes) is an echelon I unit in the Ministry of Health which has the task of formulating and implementing policies in the field of pharmaceutical and medical devices. This task is further elaborated in the implementation of functions which include:

1. formulation of policies in the field of production and distribution of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and household health supplies, assessment and supervision of medical devices and household health supplies, health supply governance, and pharmaceutical service;
2. implementation of policies in the field of production and distribution of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and household health supplies, assessment and supervision of medical devices and household health supplies, health supply governance, and pharmaceutical service;
3. preparation of norms, standards, procedures, and criteria in the production and distribution of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and household health supplies, assessment and supervision of medical devices and household health supplies, health supply governance, and pharmaceutical service;
4. providing technical guidance and supervision in the fields of production and distribution of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and household health supplies, assessment and supervision of medical devices and household health supplies, health supply governance, and pharmaceutical service;
5. implementation of evaluation and reporting in the field of production and distribution of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices, and household health supplies, assessment and supervision of medical devices and household health supplies, health supply governance, and pharmaceutical service;
6. implementation of the administration of the Directorate General; and
7. implementation of other functions assigned by the Minister.

• All health development programs must involve all parties, because health development cannot be implemented by the Ministry of Health alone.

• Health programs must be in accordance with the needs and desires of the people, as well as responsive in addressing regional problems, local conditions, socio-cultural and geographical conditions.
• These factors are the basis for addressing different health problems, so different treatments are needed.

Effective

• Health programs must achieve significant results according to set targets and be efficient.

Clean

• The implementation of health development must be free from corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN), transparent and accountable.
