In order to improve the quality of pharmaceutical personnel as well as to accelerate the implementation of pharmaceutical services in hospitals according to standards, the Directorate of Pharmaceutical Services in collaboration with hospitals designated as Centers of Excellence for Pharmaceutical Services for Dispensing Sterile Medicinal Preparations conducted training on dispensing sterile medicinal preparations for pharmacists. This training was held at 3 (three) hospitals, namely Fatmawati General Hospital on October 25-November 3, 2021, Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital on November 8-17, 2021 and Dr. Sardjito General Hospital on November 8-17, 2021.

Sterile Drug Dispensing which consists of mixing injectable drugs, mixing parenteral nutrition, and handling cytotoxic preparations is part of clinical pharmacy activities that aim to improve patient safety and achieve optimal treatment therapy. Sterile preparation dispensing services require special requirements both in terms of human resources and facilities and infrastructure, so not all hospitals in Indonesia are able to carry out. To encourage this, the Ministry of Health appoints several hospitals that are able to become excellent / pilot and able to become a place of learning for pharmacists in hospitals throughout Indonesia, especially in the Dispensing of Sterile Drug Preparations. The Ministry of Health has stipulated Minister of Health Decree number HK/01.07/MENKES/484/2021 concerning the Establishment of a Hospital Center of Excellence for Pharmaceutical Services for the Dispensing of Sterile Medicinal Preparations. There are 5 hospitals that have been designated as centers of excellence for pharmaceutical services for dispensing sterile drug preparations in hospitals, namely Fatmawati General Hospital, Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital, Dr. Sardjito General Hospital, Dharmais Cancer Hospital and Dr. Kariadi General Hospital.

Through this activity, pharmacists who take part in the training are expected to have the ability and competence in carrying out sterile drug dispensing activities that are safe and in accordance with standards to improve patient safety in hospitals. Selected participants were selected from hospital pharmacists throughout Indonesia. The training is carried out using the blended learning method, which is a combination of online and offline training for practical implementation, accredited by the Health HR Training Center.
