In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation of adapting to new habits, it is very important to maintain the body's immune system. Efforts that can be made include the implementation of Health Protocols, as well as the consumption of healthy food and drinks, one of which is herbal medicine. Jamu is a cultural heritage of the Indonesian people in the form of concoctions of medicinal plant ingredients that have properties/benefits for health and have been used from generation to generation and developed from generation to generation. Jamu is a product that has high economic value, provides benefits and is a source of pride as part of the nation's identity. Jamu has 3 (three) dimensions of benefits, namely health, economic and socio-cultural benefits.
Currently, the public's tendency to use traditional medicine or the concept of "back to nature" in overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic needs to be supported and preserved. Jamu can support preventive promotive efforts, by drinking jamu regularly can improve family health and fitness, and maintain our immune system so as to reduce health costs. However, the use/consumption of herbal medicine must be correct rather than the expected effect is optimal.

The Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals through the Directorate of Pharmaceutical Production and Distribution held a Socialization of the Use of Safe, Quality and Useful Jamu in the context of Supporting COVID-19 Vaccination in Banyuwangi Regency from 09 to 11 December 2021. This activity involved 4 people from the Pharmacy section and the Surveillance and Immunization section of the Banyuwangi Regency Health Office, 30 people from the Jamu Gendong Business (UJG) and Jamu Racikan Business (UJR) in the Banyuwangi Regency area.
What needs to be considered by the Jamu Gendong (UJG) and Jamu Racikan (UJR) business actors and the community is how to use herbal medicine so that it can meet health requirements, which are safe for consumption, especially in the aspects of hygiene and sanitation in making herbal medicine. Through this activity, UJG and UJR entrepreneurs and the community are expected to be able to apply the use of herbal medicine processing that pays attention to hygiene and health, and the community can find out the benefits of herbal medicine for family health and fitness.
The activity, which was carried out by implementing health protocols, also organized COVID-19 vaccination at the Kabat Health Center, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java, involving 50 vaccinators and 20 safety teams in the Banyuwangi Regency area with a total number of people vaccinated reaching 1995 people.
