Bali, 19 September 2022
The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be felt around the world, with prolonged effects on health and economies. Solidarity, multilateralism and technological strength are essential elements needed to escape the consequences of the health crisis due to excessive pressure on countries' health systems, and lack of access to appropriate medical measures.
The Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) and Indonesia have a shared vision to establish a global health architecture that can prepare the world for future pandemic threats. The vision aims to minimize and end the threat of pandemics. Realizing this requires building a new and dynamic system that requires the commitment of every country in every region of the world, and Indonesia is leading the effort through its G20 presidency.

On September 19-21, 2022, the CEPI delegation held its annual Board Meeting in Bali and was attended by the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices, L. Rizka Andalucia as a CEPI Investor Board Member. On this occasion, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Kunta Wibawa Dasa Nugraha was also present to deliver his remarks and support in the CEPI board member meeting.
"Indonesia provides full support for the success of the CEPI board member meeting as part of efforts to prepare and prevent the upcoming pandemic," said Secretary General Kunta. The development and production of vaccines and therapeutics are known to still be carried out in most High-Income Countries (HICs) so that equity and ease of access are needed, including technology transfer for developing countries "We believe that through easy access to vaccines, therapies and diagnostics, more people will be saved", added Kunta.

It is hoped that the agenda of this Board Meeting can obtain strategic results in realizing increased access to safe and effective vaccines for all people in need. In addition, it is hoped that the results of this activity can be aligned with the main agenda of the health sector in Indonesia's G20 Presidency, namely strengthening the Global Health Architecture, by building better global health resilience.
