In accordance with the mandate of Law number 36 of 2009 and Government Regulation number 72 of 1998 concerning the Safety of Pharmaceutical Supplies and Medical Devices, every medical device and household health supplies in circulation must have a distribution license issued through the Ministry of Health. The granting of distribution permits is a form of guaranteeing the safety, quality, and usefulness of medical devices and PKRT products by the government.
The safety and usefulness of medical devices and PKRT are also influenced by the behavior of individuals who use them. Therefore, it is important to educate the community as users of medical devices and PKRT so that they can use medical devices and PKRT properly and correctly so that products can provide optimal benefits in supporting public health efforts, in this case including individual, family and environmental health.

To realize this mandate, the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices through the Directorate of Medical Device Supervision held Communication, Information and Education activities for the Supervision of Medical Device Products and PKRT to the public in Bitung City, North Sulawesi on November 27, 2022.
The activity, which was held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church Hall Room in Kumersot, Bitung City, was not only attended by the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, but also by Mrs. Felly Estelita Runtuwene (Member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives), Head of the North Sulawesi Provincial Health Office, and Head of the Bitung City Health Office.

Head of Administration and General Subdivision, Nurlaili Isnaini in her speech said. “The use of medical devices and PKRT that is carried out properly and correctly is expected to provide benefits in accordance with the intended use of the product and prevent unwanted events due to incorrect use”.
He also hopes that through this activity the community of medical device and PKRT users, in addition to better understanding the importance of use, and being able to consciously choose, obtain, and use medical devices and PKRT properly and correctly, can also participate in the supervision of medical devices by actively reporting if they find products that do not comply with the provisions.

At the same time, COVID-19 vaccination and healthy kits were also distributed as a way to protect the community from the chain of coronavirus spread.
