The domestic medical device industry is a potential industrial sector in realizing one of the pillars of transformation in the health sector, namely pharmaceutical and medical device resilience. For this reason, the Directorate of Medical Device and PKRT Assessment of the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices took concrete steps to support the achievement of the Independence and Resilience of the Domestic Medical Device Industry through the implementation of the "National Forum on the Independence and Resilience of the Medical Device Industry" back to back "Virtual Exhibition of Domestic Medical Devices and Business Matching".
As an implementation of the mandate of Presidential Instruction Number 6 of 2016 concerning the Acceleration of the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Industry to achieve self-sufficiency in pharmaceutical preparations and medical devices, this activity is intended to convey widely related information on medical device products that have been produced in Indonesia, as well as the results of research and innovation in medical devices by the nation's children. This forum is held in conjunction with the Virtual Exhibition of Domestic Medical Devices Products and Business Matching on August 30 - September 1, 2021, which uses a hybrid implementation method - virtual (online) and physical (offline) while still implementing health protocols.
In her report, Acting Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Arianti Anaya said "The growth of the medical device industry is developing conducive but of course there is still a need for acceleration efforts, especially in the context of handling the Covid-19 pandemic".
The development of the independence of the medical device industry requires a forum involving medical device stakeholders in Indonesia to discuss strategies and solutions for a superior national medical device ecosystem.

The National Forum for the Independence and Resilience of the Medical Device Industry back to back Virtual Exhibition of Domestic Medical Devices and Business Matching aims to:
- Encourage the independence of medical devices with effective TKDN indicators;
- Discuss strategies to accelerate the absorption of domestic medical equipment products, based on national data on the capabilities and capacity of the existing medical equipment industry: specifications, quality, and capacity;
- Discuss strategic policy issues and progress in medical device independence policy, during the Covid-19 pandemic and post-pandemic;
- Systematically monitor the development of self-reliance of medical device products by considering the Readiness Level;
- Provide input for the formulation of strategies and solutions so that a superior national medical device ecosystem can further increase the durability of national medical device independence in the midst of the current global pandemic;
- Provide input to inventory efforts on all potentials and constraints at every stage from upstream to downstream in the National Medical Device Industry.
The Virtual Exhibition of Domestic Medical Devices Products and Business Matching showcases the production as well as the development of technology and innovation of domestic medical devices, which aims to introduce domestic products that have been competitive and to increase the use of domestic products by the community towards the independence of medical devices in Indonesia.

This virtual exhibition was attended by 113 booths participants consisting of the Ministry of Health, other Ministries and Institutions, DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Office, Jakarta City Health Office, technopark managers, universities, professional organizations, industry associations, hospitals and the Medical Device industry.
National Forum on Independence and Resilience of the Medical Device Industry back to back Virtual Exhibition of Domestic Medical Devices and Business Matching was attended and officially opened by the Minister of Health and the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment with participants involving the Ministry of Health, other related Ministries and Institutions, technopark managers and universities, as well as industry players who are members of various associations and invitees. In his remarks, Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin said "I hope, by seeing the increasing need for medical devices, this is an opportunity for the domestic medical device industry to more aggressively build capacity to produce domestic medical devices".
