Insight into the safety and quality of medical devices and household health supplies (PKRT) circulating in the community is one of the health insights needed in health development efforts. Therefore, the Directorate of Medical Device and PKRT Assessment of the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals held a socialization of Communication, Information, and Education on the Safety and Quality of Medical Devices and PKRT to the community and health cadres.
The activity, which was held on August 21, 2021 at Blok M Field in Makassar City, South Sulawesi with 200 participants from the community, health cadres including health service officers, was attended by a member of Commission IX DPR RI, Drs. H. Ashabul Kahfi, M.Ag.
The socialization, which is carried out by implementing health protocols during this activity, aims to provide information and education to the public on how to use medical devices and PKRT properly and correctly, especially during the current COVID-19 pandemic, where the community's need for medical devices and PKRT independently is increasing.
The information and education includes how to check the distribution license, use the device, understand indications, read warnings and storage, prevent side effects due to misuse and understand correct advertising.
Information and education was delivered through material presentation and discussion between the speakers and participants where participants could ask questions directly. In addition, the resource person also asked the participants questions about the material presented so that the participants' understanding of the material that had been delivered could be known, with the hope that the participants would be more familiar with and understand how to use medical devices and PKRT in their daily lives.
With this understanding, it is hoped that it can improve the supervision of Alkes and PKRT products circulating in the community, so that the public can check Alkes and PKRT products, report product complaints, advertisements that do not comply with regulations through the Alkes Mobile application which can be downloaded through the Google Play Store.
