Medical devices are one of the important components in health services. However, based on LKPP eCatalog data for 2019-2020, medical device transactions are still dominated by imported products, reaching 88% of the total transaction value of medical devices. Therefore, increasing the resilience of medical devices is one of the priority programs of the Ministry of Health through the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices within the framework of the Health Resilience System Transformation.
This is in line with Presidential Instruction Number 6 of 2016 concerning the Acceleration of the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Industry which was followed up by the Ministry of Health through Minister of Health Regulation Number 17 of 2017 concerning Action Plan for the Acceleration of the Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Industry.
In order to realize the Presidential Instruction and increase the use of domestic medical devices, the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices through the Directorate of Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Resilience held an activity "Business Matching, and Exhibition of Affirmation Action to Increase the Use of Domestic Medical Device Products at the Claro Hotel Makassar South Sulawesi on August 30-September 1, 2022 offline and online through virtual meeting media and streaming Youtube channels.
This activity was opened by the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Dra. L. Rizka Andalucia, Apt, M.Pharm, MARS, and in her remarks she explained that the high number of imported medical devices in health services in Indonesia must be anticipated with policies that regulate medical device spending on government health service facilities and strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic medical device industry based on applied research and utilization of domestic resources.
"Through this meeting, it is hoped that useful results can be obtained so that knowledge related to technology and quality of domestic medical equipment increases and encourages increased use of domestic medical devices in the implementation of government procurement of goods / services," said Director General Rizka.
In addition to being attended by participants from the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices, this activity was also attended by 56 participants consisting of hospitals and provincial health offices in the Sulawesi island region and its surroundings, as well as hospitals and district / city health offices in the South Sulawesi region, associations (ASPAKI and GAKESLAB).
Along with the Workshop and Business Matching event, in this activity there was also a domestic Medical Device Exhibition which was attended by 59 domestic medical device companies. In the exhibition they displayed Indonesian medical device products such as ultrasound, anthropometry, ventilators, anesthesia machines, and various BMHP (syringe, infusion, etc.), especially products that are widely used in regional public hospitals.
