Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices L. Rizka Andalusia had the opportunity to open the National Technical Coordination Meeting of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices in 2023 at Le Meridien Hotel Jakarta on April 4 - 5, 2023 in a hybrid manner (online and offline) which was attended by representatives of the Provincial Health Office, District and City Health Offices, Regional General Hospitals, Health Facility Safety Centers totaling more than 500 participants.
The topic of this activity is "Synergy between Central and Regional Government in Realizing Health Transformation in Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Sector" with the hope of strengthening the commitment of cooperation between the central and regional governments to improve access, independence and quality of pharmaceutical preparations and medical devices in improving the highest degree of public health.
In her opening remarks, she said that in line with the health transformation agenda, to improve the health system in all health sectors, the Health Bill was drafted, in the preparation of which aspects of drug and medical device governance will be addressed from upstream to downstream.

"The performance parameters for making drug and medical device governance must be carried out properly and the most important thing is that the results are really felt by the community, the emphasis we must focus on, all the programs we make must be able to prosper the community, of course in the health sector," she explained.
Communication with local governments in strategizing the provision of medical supplies with the new budgeting system and procurement system will continue to be carried out by the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals.
"How can the community access drugs and medical devices and be managed effectively and efficiently with the principles of quality control and cost control, besides that the management of drugs and medical devices is sought to uphold accountability and integrity," concluded Rizka.
The event then continued with a panel discussion session related to strategy and policy updates from both the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices. This discussion presented all ranks of Primary High Officials as speakers and was moderated by the Head of PMO of the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices.

Before the panel discussion, as an introduction, a presentation related to health transformation in the pharmaceutical and medical device sector was delivered by the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices. In his presentation, he conveyed several things including: the role of the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals in health transformation, support for the primary care pillar, efforts and progress in achieving the pillars of health security system transformation and health biotechnology.

The Indonesian Minister of Health, Budi G Sadikin also attended the session. Accompanied by the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices and the Secretary General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices, Dita Novianti conducted a question and answer session and discussion with the participants.
The Minister of Health advised that drug governance still needs a lot of improvement with a problem approach starting from the community, namely drug availability to drug access in the community is a priority, cooperation between the center and the regions will be important in increasing access to independence of drugs and medical devices as a big agenda in improving public health status.
