Indonesian President Joko Widodo officially opened the 38th Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2023 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang, Banten on Wednesday (18/10).
Trade Expo Indonesia is an international trade show of Indonesian export products and services focusing on business-to-business transactions organized annually by the Ministry of Trade.
The exhibition, which carries the theme 'Sustainable Trade for Global Economic Resilience', is one of the government's efforts which is expected to be a turning point for Indonesia's economic stretch after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The exhibition, which presents a variety of superior Indonesian products, is organized with a hybrid concept. The offline exhibition was held on October 18 - October 22, 2022 while the virtual was held on October 18 - December 18, 2022 and can be accessed for 24 hours, allowing visitors who are not physically present to participate in this exhibition.
Mr. President expressed his hope that "TEI 2023 will become an event that can expand and increase markets, so that Indonesian entrepreneurs, Indonesian MSMEs and the Indonesian local product industry can progress and become an important part of the global supply chain," Jokowi said in his speech when opening Trade Expo Indonesia.
The Indonesian Ministry of Health through the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices participated in TEI 2023. The participation of Indonesian medical device products aims to display and introduce and open wider access to the Indonesian medical device export market.
Based on data from the Ministry of Trade in 2022, the export value of Medical Devices to Southeast Asia amounted to 208 million US dollars. There was an increase from 2021. Medical devices with the highest export value include health science instruments or devices, sanitation equipment, respiratory therapy devices, health measuring devices, and hospital furniture. This condition is expected to be maintained and improved in the coming years.
The medical device products displayed in this exhibition are superior products that already have ISO certificates and are focused on exports. There are 16 medical device companies joining the Indonesian medical device booth and the tools on display include surgical thread, disposable syringe, Rapid Diagnostic Test, sphygmomanometer, stethoscope, baby incubator, ultrasound, hospital bed, humidifier, ECG, transport incubator, suction pump, safety box, x-ray fllm viewer, disinfectant and others.
Director of Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Resilience of the Indonesian Ministry of Health Roy Himawan had the opportunity to visit the Kemenkes booth. With the participation of the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices at TEI, it is hoped that the socialization of Indonesian medical device products to users and open up opportunities for cooperation at the national level, the creation of wider market access for Indonesian medical devices in terms of exports and the implementation of direct assistance and supervision by the Directorate of Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices Resilience.
