The Scholarship Program for Advanced Research and Training in Virology and Vaccine Technology is an initiative of COMSTECH, as the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technology Cooperation of the OIC, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and PT Bio Farma as the OIC Center of Excellence (CoE) for Vaccines and Biotechnology Products. The first and second batches of this scholarship program have been successfully held in 2022 and 2023 with the aim to strengthen health and science collaboration among OIC member countries and prepare researchers to face future pandemic challenges, through theoretical and practical training, as well as industrial visits. A total of 14 selected participants consisting of researchers and health professionals from 8 OIC member countries (Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Pakistan, and Uganda) have participated in this program.

The 3rd batch of COMSTECH OIC Scholarship Program for Advanced Research and Training in Virology and Vaccine Technology will be held in July 2024. COMSTECH jointly offers scholarships to young scientists in OIC countries for them to spend 1 month at a relevant CoE in an OIC country. The aim of this scholarship is to enhance the research and development capacity of promising scientists, especially those who are just starting their research career, as well as help them foster relationships for further collaboration in the field of virology and vaccine technology.
