Socialization of the Use of Safe, Quality, and Efficacious Jamu in Surabaya, October 2, 2021In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the situation of adapting to new habits, it is very important to maintain the body's immune system. Efforts that can be made include implementing Health Protocols (3M: Wearing masks, maintaining distance, and Washing hands with soap), as well as consuming healthy food and drinks, one of which is jamu.
The Socialization of Safe, Quality, and Efficacious Use of Jamu is one of the activities carried out by the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices through the Directorate of Pharmaceutical Production and Distribution which was attended by 200 people including 30 people from Jamu Gendong Businesses and Racikan Jamu Businesses while still paying attention to health protocols. This activity was held at Joglo Cak Markeso, Surabaya City, East Java and was attended by a member of DPR RI Commission IX, Arzeti Bilbina Huzaimi on Saturday, October 02, 2021.
The Director of Pharmaceutical Production and Distribution, represented by Mrs. Ninik Hariyati, said that "Currently, the public's tendency to use traditional medicine or the concept of "back to nature" in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic needs to be supported and preserved." in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic needs to be supported and preserved this culture of drinking jamu". She also said that "Jamu is a cultural heritage of the Indonesian people, in the form of a concoction of medicinal plant ingredients that have properties/benefits for health, and has been used from generation to generation and developed from generation to generation, so that it becomes a product that has high economic value, provides benefits and is a source of pride as part of the national identity".
In addition to conducting Socialization activities for UJG and UJR actors, the Directorate of Pharmaceutical Production and Distribution also provided assistance for Vaccination on October 03, 2021 at Jembatan Merah Plaza, Krembangan District and at Puskesmas Krembangan Selatan on October 04, 2021, with a total of 1,000 people being vaccinated.
