Indonesia is a member of the Global Hamonization Working Party (GHWP) which is a forum to prepare harmonization of medical device requirements, procedures, and standards for its member countries.
GHWP regularly holds annual meetings, namely the Technical Committee (TC) Leaders Meeting and Annual Meeting. In 2024, Indonesia through the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices of the Indonesian Ministry of Health had the opportunity to host the TC Leaders Meeting where previously in 2023 it was held in Shenzhen, China. And in 2025 it has been determined that Egypt will host the GHWP TC Leaders Meeting.
It took place at the Pullman Hotel Bali, on June 12 to 13, 2024. 9 countries from GHWP members attended the TC Leaders Meeting, including Indonesia, Hong Kong, South Korea, Malaysia, People's Republic of China (PRC), Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, and United Arab Emirates (UAE). The meeting was attended by regulators from member country governments and medical device industry players.
Also present were representatives of other countries as Advisors including Japan, the United States, and Australia.
Director of Pharmaceutical and Health Resilience: Roy Himawan, Director of Health Care Production and Distribution: Dede Mulyadi, and the Director of Health Care Supervision who is also the Vice Chair of GHWP: Eka Purnamasari were present as representatives of the Directorate General of Pharmaceutical and Health Services of the Indonesian Ministry of Health to oversee the meeting.
By hosting this activity, it shows that the Ministry of Health strongly supports regulatory harmonization, and hopes that in the future the Ministry of Health can apply harmonization policies that are beneficial to the progress of the medical device industry in Indonesia.
