Hospitals are health care institutions that organize comprehensive individual health services that provide inpatient, outpatient and emergency services. Hospitals also have complexity in services, and have human resources from various multi-disciplines and specializations including pharmacists, faced with Global Challenges and the Asean Economic Community (AEC).
Bali, May 26, 2022. Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices L. Rizka Andalucia accompanied by Secretary General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Dita Novianti and Director of Pharmaceutical Management and Services Dina Sintia Pamela, had the opportunity to officially open and provide direction in the seminar and workshop activities organized by HISFARSI PD IAI Bali at Harris Hotel & Residence Sunset Road Bali with the theme “Pharmacist: Toward International Standard and Specialization”.
In his remarks and directions, the Director General said that pharmacists are one of the health workers who play an important role in efforts to realize health development. For this reason, improving the quality of pharmacists in carrying out pharmaceutical practices, both in the aspects of procurement, production, distribution and service of pharmaceutical preparations, is an important thing that must be prioritized.
Pharmaceutical services are an integral part of health services in realizing quality health services. Pharmaceutical services are direct and responsible services to patients related to pharmaceutical preparations with the intention of achieving definite results to improve the quality of life of patients.
In line with the concept of patient centeredness in health services, pharmaceutical services have also undergone a paradigm shift, from the old drug-oriented paradigm to a new paradigm oriented towards patient safety, thus requiring the creation of comprehensive pharmaceutical care aimed at improving the quality of life of patients.
As a consequence of this change in orientation, pharmacists must be able to carry out both managerial and clinical pharmacy services. Managerially, pharmacists are responsible for the management of pharmaceutical preparations, medical devices and consumable medical materials that ensure the entire range of activities of pharmaceutical supplies, medical devices and consumable medical materials in accordance with applicable regulations and ensure their quality, benefits and safety.
“Another challenge faced in relation to health workers is the limited sustainable professional development. Science and technology develop progressively and dynamically, so we must have a comprehensive effort in answering the challenges of developing the health profession in line with the development of science and technology,” said the Director General.

The Ministry of Health appreciates the steps initiated by the Indonesian Pharmacists Association in creating the Advanced Level Framework (ALF) as an effort to advance and transform more advanced pharmaceutical practices in Indonesia, one of which is the specialization of pharmacists.
Specialist professional pharmacists specialize in a variety of clinical areas. Each area presents its own challenges and requires specialized expertise and skills. Trends globally show the need for clinical pharmacists, who are more patient-facing with higher responsibility and accountability. Director General Rizka hopes that in the future more Specialist Pharmacists will be present in Indonesia and provide the best service in Health services in Indonesia.
