Health development continues to move progressively and dynamically, as an effort to fulfill the rights of the community to obtain the highest degree of health. Health development organized through the National Health System approach is realized by mobilizing various elements of society, the business world, academia, and of course escorted by the government to jointly ensure access to affordable health services for the community. Pharmaceutical supplies and medical devices are one of the subsystems in the National Health System, and contribute to the success of achieving health development targets.
Praise be to God, in the period 2012 - 2018, the Directorate General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices has made various breakthrough efforts in improving access to health services, through ensuring access, independence, and quality of pharmaceutical preparations and medical devices. These efforts are organized comprehensively, based on the supply chain cycle of pharmaceutical preparations and consumable medical goods. Efforts to increase access are carried out starting from the selection, planning, procurement, distribution, service, and evaluation of pharmaceutical preparations and medical devices. Efforts are also made to monitor medical devices and household health supplies (PKRT) that are safe, quality and useful. Included in these efforts are various breakthroughs to realize the independence of drugs, medicinal raw materials, and medical devices in Indonesia.
This is an excerpt from the remarks of the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices, Dra. Maura Linda Sitanggang, Ph.D (2012-2018) in the book "Realizing Access and Independence of Quality Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices."
