On April 17-19, 2023, an international meeting of the G20 Indian Presidency took place in the series of the 2nd Health Working Group (HWG) Meeting in Goa, India. The Indonesian delegation was led by the Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices, L. Rizka Andalusia accompanied by representatives of the Directorate of Production and Distribution of Medical Devices and Representatives of the Center for Global Health Policy and Health Technology and the Indonesian Embassy in New Delhi.
With the theme "One Earth, One Family, One Future ", the HWG 2 meeting of the G20 Indian Presidency also discussed 3 health priority issues on prevention, preparedness, and health emergency response, strengthening pharmaceutical cooperation with a focus on access and availability of safe, effective, quality and affordable medical logistics, as well as innovation and digital health solutions for achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and improving health services.
The meeting was attended by 19 G20 Member Countries, 9 invited countries and 29 international and regional organizations. Continuing the G20 Indonesia 2022 relay balloon, Indonesia attended the HWG 2 G20 Indian Presidency as Troica G20 and played an active role in overseeing the sustainability of the issues discussed. In addition, Indonesia is also a delegation of ASEAN representatives related to Indonesia's chairmanship of ASEAN in 2023.
In her remarks, DG Rizka conveyed Indonesia's support for the three priority health issues that will be discussed during India's G20 presidency in 2023 and underlined the various agreements reached during Indonesia's chairmanship as contained in the Bali Declaration and the Six Key Actions of the G20 Bali Health Ministers. In addition, Director General Rizka had the opportunity to convey related action plans for prevention, preparedness and response that are aligned with the UN target to end the TB epidemic by 2030.
The series of events were carried out with active and in-depth discussions with the mechanism of discussing each session on three priority health issues. In addition, there were side events that discussed medical countermeasure, digital health architecture and climate change. In between meetings, the Indonesian Delegation held several bilateral meetings, including with Japan, Brazil, UK, WHO, ADB, UNITAID, Project Echo, FIND, and the Medicine Patent Pool.
