In conjunction with the 60th National Health Day (HKN), the Ministry of Health organized the Health Innovation Fest (HAI-Fest) on November 7 to 9 at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).

With the theme “Leveraging Local Resources: From Nature, Nurture the Future”, HAI Fest 2024 encourages sustainable efforts to build the resilience of the national health system through the utilization of natural resource-based innovations.

Director General of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices L. Rizka Andalucia in her report said that the rapid development of health technology and the use of information technology in the health sector is a challenge for us to be able to realize resilience in the health sector.

According to Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin, HAI-Fest was organized to build the sustainability of the third pillar of health transformation, namely health system resilience.

“Learning from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Government is determined to strengthen a safe and independent health system. Therefore, we will encourage the development of the pharmaceutical industry, medical devices, and health services to be produced domestically,” said the Minister of Health when opening the event at the JCC on Friday (8/11/2024).

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno appreciated the Ministry of Health's move to strengthen the national pharmaceutical and medical device industry and encourage the use of local products. “This is an extraordinary step. I fully support what the Minister of Health has done in focusing his budget to buy domestic health products,” he said.

HAI-Fest 2024 involves various stakeholders, such as Ministries / Institutions, Provincial / Regency / City Health Offices, Hospitals, Professional Associations / Organizations, Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Industries and the community.

This activity also invited officials from other institutions and ministries, Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Ambassadors of friendly countries, Heads of Provincial Health Offices, Districts / Cities, representatives of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation countries, and the Indonesian Health Council.

Free Activities and Facilities for the Public

HAI Fest 2024 held various educational and innovative activities, including:

1. Health Innovation and Technology Exhibition which displays innovations in research results and domestic products in the form of pharmaceutical preparations (drugs, medicinal materials, traditional medicines, and cosmetics) and medical devices.
2. Indonesia – COMSTECH International Conference and Exhibition of Natural Products Based Cosmetics and Nutraceuticals involving OIC (Organization of Islamic Cooperation) member states.
3. One on One Business Matching between the manufacturing industry and raw material industry with hospitals and health departments as a means to increase the use of domestic health products, and open up opportunities for cooperation and also domestic industrial investment.
4. Talkshow/Seminar by hospitals, industries, and program managers at the Ministry of Health as a medium of health education for the community. The topics of talk shows/seminars presented include Handling Heart Disease in Indonesia with the latest technology, Let's remove the stigma of mental disorders together, IVF, Medical Check Up (MCU), Aesthetic and Wellbeing, Look Beautiful with Wardah, Fatmawati Orthopaedic Center, The Role of Bioequivalence Test in Maintaining Drug Quality, Efficacy, and Safety, Biocompatibility as Quality Assurance of Medical Devices, Holistic Beauty with Natural and Cultural Heritage, Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Optimal Child Growth with Congenital Hypothyroid Screening, and so on.
5. Awarding the Work of the Nation's Children to inventors, industries and start-up companies in the pharmaceutical and medical device fields.
6. Free medical check-up such as eye examination, bone density examination, blood sugar examination, early detection of non-communicable diseases, cardiovascular examination using NIVA, as well as early detection of cervical cancer and breast cancer. The public can also do blood donation and acupuncture therapy in this activity.

HAI Fest 2024 is expected to be a momentum for the community to support health independence and together realize stronger health resilience for Indonesia.
